Masters
Energy Oil & Gas Limited on Monday July 26 2010 celebrated
the first year anniversary of Masters Energy City. Masters
Energy City was commissioned on July 25 2009 at Rumuolumeni,
Port Harcourt by the then Minister of State for Energy (Petroleum),
Mr. Odein Ajumogobia SAN.
Reminiscencing on the
past 365 days of the City, the company can say to a large
extent that the dream of establishing the city is on course
for realisation. Energy City was conceptualised as a one
stop energy shop for all petroleum products and services.
The commissioning of the first phase of the City included
the commissioning of the 158,000 MT petroleum storage facility
has largely impacted positively on petroleum product availability,
distribution and affordability in the perennially shortage
of petroleum product region of the South East and South
-South regions of Nigeria.
The strength of the storage
depot includes on ground trucks of Masters Energy ready
for hire and assurance of priority in loading as soon as
payment is made for the truck. Loading in this depot do
not take time as it is compulsory and matter of policy that
loading is done within 24 hours. The depot has the facility
to back load to a vessel as high as 5 million litres.
The depot has adequate
security and safety measures to ensure that there is no
threat to both property and life. It is surrounded by hydrant
lines i.e pipes carrying water round. The gantry has sprinkler
system mixed with foam which makes it easy to fight fire.
Aside the sprinkler system, the depot has four canon monitors
facing the gantry (back and front); with mobile foam units
at dedicated points.

In addition to all these, the depot
has 50 kg fire extinguishers aside over 40 smaller extinguishers
and has water tank of 2 million litres capacity with two
caterpillar water pumps, which push water to affected
areas in the event of a fire outbreak. Round the product
tanks are sprinkler systems and hydrant lines. On top
of the tank is Top Pouring System (TPS), which pumps foam
to the body of the tank thereby blanketing fire.
Masters Energy City depot is supported
by a functional and dedicated jetty of high standard.
The jetty located on Elechi Creek, Aker Base Port Harcourt
is 500 metres in length. Currently it has one dolphin
finger jetty with the second finger jetty at advanced
stage of completion. When fully completed, two vessels
would berth conveniently at the jetty.
The Jetty has a draft of 7.5 - 9 metres
with plans to deepen the draft to 12 metres subsequently
in the next few months. High resolution dredgers are currently
at work and our projected target would be accomplished
sooner than envisaged. This facility will enable us handle
multiple reception of unrelated petroleum products simultaneously.
Though the past one year has
come with challenges, Masters Energy City has been able
to weather the storm and deliver customised services to
its numerous customers because of its state of the art
facilities and cream of dedicated staff. Occupying about
115 hectares of land, the City when fully developed will
house Bitumen, LPG and Lubricant Plants and 20,000 bpd
Modular Refinery
